I’ve worked in animal care for many years, as a dogwalker, cat sitter,
pet sitter, and a trainer/manager of other dog walkers, and I’ve
learned that the two most important things one can have in this
industry is a genuine excitement to be around animals, and to express
that affection in careful attention to the details of each pet’s
needs.

We *heart* fostering!  Discounts available to all foster pets, because
we’d like to do our part to make it possible for more animal lovers to
open their homes to a pet in need.

VJ Barrick hails from San Diego, CA, where she grew up raising rabbits, training herding dogs, and shoeing horses. Her experience ranges from hamsters to Great Danes, fish tanks to parakeets.  One of the highlights in her animal care career was fostering a piglet named Frasier.  Since moving to NYC, she has become fascinated with the local wildlife, animals that make their home in the concrete jungle.  She has a theory that cats can remember every book they’ve read in previous lives, but she’ll never be able to prove it.  Her favorite thing about dog walking is getting to know the pups as individuals. And she finds that she spontaneously decides that each dog she’s with is without a doubt her absolute favorite.

Her home revolves around her two very dapper cats sons Jingle and Topper.  In her spare time she enjoys the act of fixing broken things, and is an avid reader, windowsill gardener, and sound sleeper.
